Healthcare and Wellbeing
To ensure that all children enjoy their basic human rights without discrimination, disability inclusion should be mainstreamed in all policies and plans: capacity building a local paediatric multiple disciplinary team is key.
In Ghana there are currently an estimated 150 practising physiotherapists, and about 15 practising speech and language therapists. The country has trained the first cohorts of Occupational and Speech and Language Therapists, but the challenge remains to ensure that they receive supervised clinical practise. These numbers are woefully inadequate in a country of over 27.9 million people (LSHTM, 2016). Multikids Africa has a dynamic relationship with University of Health and Allied Sciences to ensure that our newly trained speech, language and hearing specialist therapists have access to supervised clinical practise.
