CURRENT PROGRAMME

Training Care-Givers

Multikids Africa worked in collaboration with Cerebral Palsy Africa and funded by Wings of Support to run a two week workshop for care-givers in how to make APT devices for children with CP.

Appropriate Paper-based Technology (APT) uses basic engineering principles to make weak materials strong. The weak materials are paper and cardboard and these can be recycled into surprisingly strong therapeutic devices which are sturdy enough to provide adequate postural support and stability for children with cerebral palsy and other physical disabilities.

APT is a cost effective way of enabling children with CP to perform daily activities despite limitations in motor control of posture and movement.

This two week course trained 21 people how to make a standing frame and a chair for a child with cerebral palsy.  Check out this video to see the course in action!

COMING UP:

IN 2019 we will be working with special needs teachers across Ghana in collaboration with Cerebral Palsy Africa AND THE SPECIAL EDUCATION DIVISION OF THE GES, to learn how to include a child with cerebral palsy in their classrooms. This project is funded by DFID.
